Sir Winston Churchill was attending a function and had a little bit too much to drink. A lady went up to him and said, "you are drunk" he replied, "and you are ugly, but I will be sober in the morning". This is supposed to be a true story.

The lady involved was reputedly Bessie Braddock, and it is indeed a true story.
The other quote in a similar vein to this was when Churchill was arguing with Nancy Astor. She said 'Sir, if you were my husband I would give you poison.' He replied 'Madam, if I were your husband I would take it.' :-)
