I personally work in a veterinary office and see many pittbulls that are wonderful dogs. I have grown to love this breed and would own one myself if not for livivng in a rented house. But I find many people pre-judge pittbulls because of what they have heard about them. Again I personally love the breed but what do you say?

I completly agree with you. I also have worked at vets offices and it's amazing to me how pits are judged so harshly. Working at a vets office you see the different breeds with different personalities. I've been bit by more small breed dogs (JRT's and chihuahua's)and I've NEVER been even growled at by a pit. I do own a pit and a mutt and it's amazing to me how people react to my dogs so differently even though they are both trained the same (very respectful). About the part of renting so you can't have a pit- I am moving and I'm having the hardest time trying to find a place that will allow one. I think that's crazy!

Pitbulls are just big sweet babies! I've never owned one (Illegal here), but I wouldn't mind. It's not the dogs - it's the people and the breeders. I wish all the bad publicity about these adorable dogs would go away.

I agree. Pitbulls are awesome! Any dog can be a danger from a beagle to a Bull Mastiff. It's all in how they are raised.
Where i'm from Pitbulls have a really bad name. I live near Detroit and well they are famous for pitt fights, so of course they automatically get tagged "bad". Obvisouly it's the owners that are making them fight, not the pit's saying hey throw me in the ring!
Also most breeds that go awry are the ones that are inbreed. Where you take a mother and son for example and inbreed them.
My pit is the most sweetest dog I have ever had. I am very proud to have her!

The sad part is, they are beautiful dogs. Unfortunately morons get them and abuse them, creating evil dogs that even when rescued often cannot be trusted in society. I'm thinking a really good idea would be to require certain breeds of dogs, pitbulls in particular, to be licensed when purchased by any breeder. The problem there is figuring out how to enforce this with an already taxed community system out there and in most parts, a humane society that cannot even keep their doors open enough to make a huge difference. I love them too, but then again... I love just about any 4 legged creature!! lol

I agree with you. I own a putbull puppy and the mother of the puppy. They are both wonderful dogs. Alot of people think that all pitbulls are mean, a few of my friends were scared of my pitbull back home untill they got to know the dog and now they all own a pitbull themselfs!
