i prefer uniforms than normal clothings... with uniforms, students just look... i dont know.. more disciplined?? its easier for the school too.. i mean in the case of truancy... students can easily be ID'd and captured if they were in school uniforms..
well.. thats just my 2 cents...

I went to catholic school with uniforms until I graduated high school. At the time I hated it, but then I went to college, and having to actually think about what I was going to wear each day made me sometimes wish I was back in a uniform.
I think it is a leveler for kids. There's no competition about who's got the best designer clothes and shoes etc. It also eliminates something else to think about in the mornings. And, I'm told that even though it requires more money up front to buy the uniforms, it's ultimately cheaper because there isn't as much need for regular clothes and they stay in better shape.

I don't think it is a bad idea, it may cut down on kids getting picked on because of their clothes. On the other hand I do think it may hinder the kids individuality a bit. I don't have a definitave opinion on this.

In Chicago most of the public schools have uniforms. It took some getting used to at first, but I like it. My girls don't have to worry about what they are going to wear. There is no competition over styles, brand names & such. It is mainly done because of gang problems which bothers me though.
