I guess there must be about 20 different accents in the country, even I sometimes find it difficult to understand.
Small example of different ways of saying things.
I might say to my partner, "Have you made the tea?"
Some would say, "Have you mashed?" or "Have you brewed?"
People from different parts would probably think of more.

I don't like British men. I like British women.
Do you celebrate Christmas? If yes, I will take this opportunity to greet you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (though is not yet Dec. 25, I may not have a chance to greet you anymore so I will do it now).

Thank you for your wishes,
I will in fact be in Manila this Christmas, so no Turkey & Christmas pudding for me this year.
I wish you and your family a Happy Christmas and good luck for the New Year.

The strange thing is, I would think there must be 10 to 15 different accents, depending on what part of the country the person come from.

The only British man I know is Mr Bean or Rowan Atkinson (did I spell correctly?) all though I'd visited London. I think British men are the most candid among the westerners. They are not as loud and are more traditional. I can also understand their spoken English better than, say, the Americans and the Australians.

We are probably like the New Zealanders.
We know we can cope with the job in hand because we are used to dealing with inferior tools /equipment etc.
Therefore we just get on with it, without making too much fuss.
Whereas the Americans and Australians make a lot of noise and a big fuss about doing or achieving some small detail.
