Bluetooth is far better than infrared as Blutooth offers mobility of around 10meters..

bluetooth is far more better than infrared.the technology used in bluetooth is related with radio waves which make pairing of devices easier and the connection is maintained from a distance also , say 50 meters . but in the case of infra rec technology the pairing devices should be maintained in close distance otherwise the connectivity might get lost. so it is bluetooth which is better and preferred over infrared.

I would say bluetooth is far more better then the Infrared and it povides a more coverage and better connections and also the speed of data trasfer.

Infrared is better (yes, I have to stray from the crowd) because it's
1) easier to work with
2) the transmitter and receiver are quite cheap
3) you don't need to do hours of programming to encode/decode stuff for bluetooth
4) if the transmitter or receiver fries, it can be replaced, unlike a ~$30 bluetooth card/module
5) it's easier to test. use a digital camera, camcorder or a test circuit w/ receiver to test the infrared sender.

Well obviously blue-tooth is much better than infra-red. I mean in infrared you have to use with two mobiles kept close to each other, but this is not the case for bluetooth.

Me too think blue tooth is better than infrared. Becuase infrared rays are micriowave in the forms of invisible ligts. Being a light its path of communication will be conical or linear.
But blue tooth user rdio wave which has a circular communication path hence it can cover more are that infrared. More over small physical obstacle can broke the communication through infrared. But Blue tooh will not be broken by even medium large obstacles.
