Dear Friends,This seems to be technical but I request your help. Currently we have two IBM X235 Range of servers running Windows 2000 Standard servers, One is Primary Domain controller and the other is the secondary domain controller.
First we want to migrate the Primary Domain Controller to Windows 2003 stand server and latter the secondary. We have all the user data (Unser information) and Group policy defined on the Active Directory of the PDC, we want to migrate the users to the new windows 2003 servers. Please guide me to do the migration with minimal down time.
I have read lot of documents, but practically I don't know what happens. Please help/ guide me.
Thanks in advance to the people who are willing to help.

Hi There,
I really want to help you, but i need to know where are you on your migration plan? Have you started doing this or do you have already a layout plan on what to do first. I suggest you read this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326480/en-us This article will guide you on using Active Directory Migration Tool from Windows 200 to Windows Server 2003. Another good article in preparation for migration is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555040/en-us this article is guide on common mistakes when upgrading Windows 2000 Domain to Windows 2003 Domain.
Enjoy your migration..

Well i'm sure this is a bit late but the migration should be simple and keep in mind that in Windows 2003 there are no more PDC's all DC's are equal. Some of the most important steps are to prepare your 2000 installation by running adprep for both forest and domain. I believe the adprep is located on your Windows 2003 media. My first attempt at upgrading failed so please please take my advice and perform a full backup including a ASR backup. Also for your information here is a detailed article on the subject, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325379
