Today, I started a discussion:
'Please & thank you - indispensable to English?'
just before starting the discussion on the topic I decided to search for a similar topic. I typed these in 'search':
tags:'please', 'thank you', 'thank', 'courteous'.
The search did not give any results.
So I posted my discussion.Imagine my surprise when the discussion was posted, and at the bottom of the page were three similar discussions!:All three discussions had used the tag:
'please', and two used 'thank' & 'thank you'!!
I have brought this to the notice of the mylot staff. I hope they will improve the search engine on mylot!!

This response was posted 4 times (!!!!) because I was shown the message: "The page content was not posted...Please try again!"
Isn't it ironic???

I don't do a complete research, but I do try to make sure it is original and true to my cases therefore it should not be something that has previously been posted by someone. But I will not post something that I have seen before or talked to someone in this site about when it is their idea.

not really, it is really dificult to do a search here, you get so many occurrences that are not important that it's a very hard job

well. i never did. but i think it is good to do a research. it increases your knowledge
and u can give a good answer.
But the major Draw back is that, it takes time.
So, i think only few people do it, those who have time and a 24 hour internet connection.
its not a problem for them.......

Yes I do a search every time, before starting/posting a new discussion and it surely does annoy me when I find that someone has started the same discussion a short time later. It is even worse when that "someone" happens to be on my list of friends, and they have responded to my discussion, then started one of their own about the very same topic. That makes me so mad because it is not acceptable to steal from anyone, let alone friends.

i sometimes do, if i ever start one. i usually did on those other forums before i heard about mylot. i did some search on about the topic i was going to start. sometimes i would just post my topic without even to search for it on the search engine. i would get results or answers to my question or the topic i was going to start when i search before posting a new discussion.
