Santa Claus - I'm confuse about his name? Do You?.....

In our homeland when you're referring to a saint having a female gender its "santa"( ex. Santa Clara, Santa Cruz...) and for a male is "santo"(ex. Sto. Niño, Sto. Domingo...). And this question had been bothering me during my childhood days. Why does Santa Claus who is male in gender got a title "Santa" instead of "Santo". What do you think guys?...Just asking...?
