Do you remember your wedding day?

What was your wedding day like? Big wedding or small? Family get along? Did you go on a honey moon? My wedding was wonderful, and yet a disaster at the same time! However, it will always be the best day of my life, right up there with having my son. I swear to you the story I'm going to tell you about my wedding is completely TRUE. I promise I did not make this up! My husband and I wanted to get married in Jamaica, just me and him. Then have our honeymoon there as well. The wedding was included in our all inclusive price for the resort we picked. However, our family gave us so much trouble about it we decided to do the wedding back home, which pushed everything back a year. We patiently waited so we could do the right thing for our family. When the day got here, it was a disaster! My mother in law decided she did not want to help because she felt I was being unappreciative. My mother didn't want to help because she felt that my husband's family didn't like her. Then my mom decided she didn't like the person marrying us so she started a fight with her. Then my flowers didn't show up until I started walking down the aisle. Then after the wedding, everyone that was supposed to stay and help clean up the chapel, took off and went to the reception site to party. So, my husband and I had to clean everything. They were no where to be found for our pictures so we didn't get any. Which makes me very sad. Then my husband and I decided to take some time just me and him so we went to the lake in town and just took in the nature, trying to relax. It was finally here, we were married. We were only there ten minutes, however, I guess that was a BIG problem with the family. We got yelled at because so and so had to go and wanted to see us before leaving and blah blah blah. Then in the middle of the reception my mom decided to confront my husbands family and started going off on them, calling them names, cursing, and carrying on where everyone could hear. I finally got up on the mic, thanked everyone for coming, and told them unfortunately things had to be cut short. I had it by that time. We were supposed to be celebrating not fighting. We have some wonderful friends though that opened up their home to us and had a bonfire for us so we could celebrate. We invited a few select friends and finally got a chance to celebrate like it should have been done. We left for Jamaica the next morning for our honeymoon. Although everything went wrong, it was still the best day ever. I married the man of my dreams! Tell me your story please!

My husband and I got married in the backyard of our trailer court. We wanted to get married in Vegas but my ex wouldn't sign the divorce papers.(Didn't want me to marry anyone else) Well we ended up paying for the wedding ourselves and just wore casual clothes. I wore my old high school prom dress and he wore black jeans and white shirt. Our flowers where late getting there to. But got there the same time the pastor did. He was late to. We didn't have all the fighting like you did but my husbands family thought it was wrong for their son, brother to marry someone with children. Didn't bother them that he had a son and was divorced to. To this day we don't get along to well. His father finally excepted about a year ago. Figured I wasn't going anywhere. We have been together for almost 18 years now. I would like to renew our vows and have a real church wedding with all the trimmings. My husband told for our 20th wedding anniversary we will and we will get to take a honeymoon which we never had. The next day we both went to work. I would say I married my soul mate and we are in this forever. I wouldn't change a thing

My wedding was also wounderful but had undertones of nastieness. My DJ was in a car wreack and was 2 hours late. My father in law who was doing our wedding vidio was drunk and my whole wedding videio after 7 O'clock is of his new wife. My husbands mother and her whole side of the family left after the food and missed all the special dances including the mother son dance. As for the wedding itself My flowers were wrong . I had 6 boutiners for 3 groomsmen and 2 bouquets for 3 bridesmaids. And for the wedding night, I had a bridesmaid in my room because her boyfriend left her. It wasn't until 3 A.M. that I found her a ride. But I married my husband that day so everything else is just the small stuff.

I've never been married but I don't think anyone could not remember there wedding day. Like you said, wedding days are the brides best day ever so I don't see them forgetting it in a hurry! I'd love to get married when I'm a bit older and have it all planned out in my head but so long as my family and friends were there and I was marrying the guy I love then I'd be happy. :)

Wedding - Wedding
I feel so sorry for you that you had to cope with so many things on such an imp day! Must have been so frustrating na..but I'm glad you feel it was worth everything since youi are with your man now!:) Back in my country marriages are mostly arranged and most often its once so there is much pomp and celebration. We have the wedding and then the reception party, with lots of people..there were almost a 1000 people at my reception. It is a big deal for everything to go well and luckily it did without any glitches. But the sad part was I had to come to the US right after we got married so couldn't spend much time with family as such. My hubby and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary. We are happily married.:)

That is wonderful! I wanted to thank you for actually posting something relevant to the discussion as well. For all of you posting single words, or something like..I'm single...I'm rating you with a -, that is very annoying.

Yes, I actually just got married earlier this year. It wasn't very big, and that's how we wanted it. Simple, but nice. Not too many people, just our most-loved ones. I loved that. And I know neither of us will ever forget our anniversary, because it was on St. Patrick's Day. Haha!

Simple and elegant, that's what we wanted to. The main reason we wanted to get married in jamaica at the resort as well. then we wouldn't have had to put up with the nonsense. Well, looks like st patty's day has a bigger meaning for you then huh?

I can still remember... We had two weddings, the first one is a civil wedding ceremony, becuase at that time, I wasn't ready to tell the whole world that I'd be getting married. I had a good job, he has his too. So it was a big deal if we'd be getting married. But he already wants to be sure that I would be his wife. So I agreed. we went to a government office just the two of us to get a civil rights wedding, wearing white polo shirts and denims. So we got married. We didn't stay together yet since just the two of us knows that we are married. But things happened, I got pregnant, so we have to prepare for a church wedding, having these conservative parents. But their are lots of resistance from both sides. They're not yet prepared to for us to marrying soon. The church wedding took place in a big church with lots of sponsors ang guests. It's quite a big wedding with so many friends and so many people came...but with a simple honeymoon and that was ten years ago.

I got married on the beach in Florida. There were a few minor problems, but nothing I couldn't handle. My Maid of Honor was late picking me up, its a 45 minute drive to the beach from my house. She also had my dress since I had not tried on since I purchased it. (I got pregnant about 4 months before my wedding - bought the dress before I was pregnant) We got down to the beach and I had to go to the reception room and decorate before going to get ready. It was a dreary, windy, rainy day. =( Wasn't what I was hoping for for my Sunset Beach Wedding. Finally last minute touches and decorations were finished and we headed over to my Fathers hotel room to get dressed and ready to get back over to the beach for pictures. Well...we had some small problems putting the dress on...lol after tugging and pulling everything was fine. The gals got dressed, hair done and makeup done and when we looked at the time...WE WERE LATE!!! HA HA - late for my own Wedding. We didn't get to take pictures before the ceremony. We got down to the beach, guests were arriving, a close friend of ours who married us was looking over the readings to make sure everything was alright. Finally it was time to get down to the beach. I headed down the stairs to meet my Mom and Dad so they could walk me to my Groom, as we were walking the Sun came out and the clouds broke so we could see the beautiful sky and sunset. It was freezing outside but I really didn't notice, I was too busy watching my soon to be hubby. The ceremony went off with no problems. Reception was wonderful - there were a few things that pissed me off - but nothing to ruin my evening and my big day! It was a wonderful wedding, a day I'll never forget!

There were about 100 people there. We got married in a small church & had our reception elsewhere. Our oldest was confused by it all & ended up crying threw all of the pictures at the church. Our DJ sucked & did not listen to ay of the instructions he was given. Our photographer left a lot to be desired too. All in all we had a good time. We did go on a honeymoon of sorts. We were gone for 3 weeks. Our 2 daughters who were 3 & 1 1/2 were with us & so were my in-laws who helped with the girls. I would never have left the girls for that long at that age. It was neat to be able to share it with them. DH & I will go on another honeymoon one of these days sans kids.
