The new Apartheid in South Africa

i know this subject is highly controversial, but I must have my say or I will BURST.
I have lived all of my 58 years in South Africa.
I grew up when whites had all the choices of jobs and others (races that is) were referred to as "Non-Whites" and were denied the opportunities reserved exclusively for whites.
As I grew older and made friends with individuals from 'other races' I realised the injustice of the whole system and I tried in my small way to treat everyone equally at work and at play.
In 1994 when everyone in S.A. had the right to vote and to be regarded as equal in every way I was delighted that at last the AWFUL SYSTEM OF APARTHEID WAS OVER.
Whites were also very grateful that we were forgiven our sins and did not experience the bloodbath most had come to expect.
HOW WRONG WE WERE.
apartheid: direct translation from Afrikaans is APARTNESS, to be seperated or as the English term: SEGREGATION.
This means to be treated differently from the rest.
And I thought apartheid had been destroyed forever.
A new term has been coined in Sunny South Africa. I could not believe my ears.
Whites are now being referred to as "NON-BLACKS'
It is happening all over again except whites are now the new PRESENTLY DISADVANTAGED.
I KNOW THAT WE MUST ADDRESS THE IMBALANCES OF THE PAST.
I know we have to play 'catch-up'
BUT DO WE HAVE TO RE-INTRODUCE APARTHEID TO ACHIEVE THIS.
NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,
Shares are made available to BLACKS ONLY.
We have a BLACK BANKERS GROUP, BLACK BUSINESS CONSORTIUM, BLACK THIS AND BLACK THAT.
A white male cannot get a job anymore.
A small business entrepreuner cannot get finance and support if he is white.
Hey you guys out there I am talking about the working class whites. the blue and white collars, NOT the rich and powerful who can live anywhere in this world if they do not like this place.
Start your own business and if you don't have a black partner you might as well go suck eggs 'cause you wont get any decent contracts even with private firms 'cause they have to be BEE
(black economic empowerment) compliant or they will lose out as well and will not get contracts and will not enjoy tax concessions only available to BEE Compliant Co.s.
Well we never got the massive bloodbath but now we are the targets of affirmative shopping. People are being killed for a cell phone.
Racial Hatred is playing a huge part in the crime wave. Why kill a person when you rob them. why mutilate, rape and torture your victims.
Don't say crime is being committed because blacks are starving and have no jobs. This does not account for the level of violence perpetrated on the victims of crime.
The worst is the mainly BLACK government does not even acknowledge that we have a problem with crime and exessive violence. Actions of people in power encourage crime as the examples set by them and their brand of justice reserved for them only show clearly that crime pays.
I recently travelled to the U.K. and seriously thought of joining the other 5 million whites that have left this country in despair and deperation. (No they will never come back)
BUT I am third generation and regard this as my homeland.
I will only despair when I am certain that the government actually DON'T WANT WHITES IN S.A. ANYMORE.
Each day it looks more and more like this is the case.
HEAVEN FORBID, IT SEEMS AS IF APARTHEID IS ALIVE AND WELL.

My alle magtig, spoken like a trooper. I am a white South-African women and you have addressed every single problem in South Africa. Just today I started a discussion under general and asked how do South Africans feel about our Presidents state of the nation speech. If Patricia stands for President I will vote for her. I am 49 years old and even though I was brought up in a very strict Afrikaanse family my parents never but never taught us to be nasty or racist to wards other races, we as white people suffered just as much as the black South Africans, especially the middle class.Crime is really out of control and we are just looking helplessly on.
But just like we were victims of a previous regime it is the same nightmare for the poor black South Africans. The majority of the poor are now even poorer. In my humble opinion it is just a matter of time, like somebody said the other day "Mama South Africa is slowly dying" Where have you ever heard of floor crossing and exclusive shares for a particular race, even if it was for whites only it is absolutely ABSURD and ludicrous

i have never been to africa, let alone south africa but i am a black american. today i have read alot about apartheid in south africa. i have read how the ruling goverment at that time classified it's people into three basic racial groups. i've read about the strict laws and abuse which occured there. and i have read about the many changes in which has tooken place there as well. i would never in my life picture such a thing as aparthied returning. but it appears as though it has. i think t is very wrong for anyone to have such laws. aparthied should not exist. i feel as though these things which are going on in south africa today are telling the world that black people weather they are american or african are not capable of having a part in a democratic goverment. and i feel as though every one deserves the right to earn enought money for their families and also deserve the right to safe peaceful goverment. i am truly sorry for what you are experiencing in south africa. but i can promise you, one way or another people will not have a choice but to change. if you do not learn from your history you will be doomed to repeat it. and i'm glad you have bought this to the attention of mylot user's this is a good discussion !
take care and i wish you the best ! -o.t.g the patriot of life
