Do you give your dog a hair cut yourself or do you pay someone to do it for you?I give our dog hair cuts myself. I don't do a wonderful job, but at least he's mostly knot free and soft and pretty looking. I think when we get another dog in the future, I'll try to have someone else do it. Maybe. hehe

I have never had to cut my dog's hair. I just have to sweep it up all the time.lol. But I do brush them a lot.

Rascal doesn't shed much at all for such a long haired dog, never has. Which is very nice.

I have a cocker spainel. When I got him money was tight but I fell in love and the lady at the store told me he would need regular hair cuts. I went to the libary and read all about how to groom and care for a cocker spaniel. I bought one of thouse pet grooming sets with the trimmer. It was about $30.00. Sometimes he looks more even then others but he does not have any matting and he always looks cute. I was thinking about having him completly chaved once a year in the spring. I can never completly shave him because he does not like me to do his legs. I am glad I taught myself to do it and my dog is also very good about it. He does get impacient by the end of the hair cut but I will usaly do it over two days. I also trim his to nails and clean his ears and brush his teeth. He also gets a bath once a week cause of a skin allergy.

With our current dog we take care of her grooming. She loves being burshed and doesn't need her hair cut. Our dog before her though was a Shi-tzu and during the summer here in Florida it was just too hot for him at full coat. Between the heat and the fact that he hated me combing him or bathing him we took him to a groomers. Now the groomer he loved. She could do anything with getting knots out of his hair and he didn't care. We'd mention the woman's name and our dog was at the door wanting to go. Once we got there he'd run into the back to find her. He loved going. It was fairly reasonable as well. It was around $15 and considering it included bathing, dipping, nail trimming and the hair cut, I thought it was worth it.

We have 2 chows. Yes, we shave them ourselvse. We don't do a great job, but in the summer they are so much cooler without all that heavy fur. Their coats tend to get knotted, so we cut the knots out too during the winter. We love our chows, but I think our next ones will be short haired dogs!

I am not fond of dogs. But I have not heard of people here in our country cutting the hair of their dogs even those who take care of hi-breed dogs. They bathe their dogs, yes, to get off the fleas, etc. Nice to know that people cut the hair of dogs.

I have never and will probably never cut my dogs hair. The closest thing I have done to this was taking him to a drive through dog wash!

I have my dogs groomed. I don`t do it as often as I should though. it gets to expensive. I have a groomer kit for home that I bought but I don`t do it right. I wish I knew how to groom them on my own. think of how much money I would save.
