What skin color do you prefer? Light or dark?

Would you know what is the most liked skin color in all over the world?
I love to be lighter in color, that's how I see myself to be beautiful. But some wants to be darker in color. Why is that so? What does a dark or black skin has to be favorable?

i am fair complexioned. not white and not too dark. i want to have a lighter skin but my boyfriend loves my skin color. so, i am already starting to be satisfied with the color of my skin.
