When I was 18 I had a non cancerous tumor removed from my back and I was in the hospital for a week. When I was 21 I had my gull bladder removed and was in the hospital for 3 days. Those are my only two surgeries. Of course, I'm only 22 so I'm relatively young, but neither surgery was huge.

Wow, that is so very young to have a couple surgeries .. Did you rest well in the hospital or did you find it hard to rest in the hospital..I know when I was in over night one time for fluids..It was so busy and noisy, I hardly slept.

Both times I wasn't in an ER so it was quiet and nice. I had my own room, cable TV, and I was hopped up on morphine so even if I was uncomfortable I wouldn't have known.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 20. I had braces on my teeth for 4 years and the wisdom teeth were crowding all that corrected work!! Plus I had one impacted and it was causing me alot of pain. The surgery went well, I was swollen like a chipmunk after the fact, but got Tylenol with Codeine to help. I am glad you only have to have that kind of work done once in alifetime beucase I wouldn't really want to go through it again :)

Having your tonsils taken out is something many children go through.. I wonder what causes your tonsils to malfunction?+

i was on a business trip to Kuala Lumpur (about 4 hours drive from my hometown) in 2001, i have to be admitted into the hospital for appendicitis..it was a very scary experience as that was the first time i was admitted into a hospital and none of my family members was there. i stayed there for 4 days and i cant eat anything and it was too painful to work...walking to the store downstairs took me 45 mins when it should be about 15 mins...i was practically crawling i guess LOL

i've only had 2 surgeries in my life..i had my tonsils out when i was in 6th grade, and just last April i had a hysterectomy. I was only in the hospital for 2 days, thankfully, cause i really hate hospitals..it felt good to get home!

Well I would say the latter is the more seriuous of the two..Some people say its hard to recover from a hysterectomy. Was it for you?+

I had my appendix and tonsils removed when I was a child, as most people of my age. Six years ago I had microsurgery on my vocal folds. Last year I had to go again through surgery for the same reason. As my voice nowadays is a whisper, because of air loss, I will have to be operated on another time in the future.

I have had surgery more times then I care to remember. A couple of times there have been complications. But I recovered and am still here. Twice I was in hospital for 2 months. The other times were much shorter stays.

I don't think you need to fear surgery..just the bills that follow..Much expenses involved in surgeries.
