Why do followers of Christianity say that they base their values and the way they live their lives on the bible but pick and choose what they follow, or try to impress on others? Such as homosexuality. If you accept one verse as the absolute word of God, then you must except them all.

I pick and choose what I believe from the Bible because some of it just plain doesn't apply to modern times. A lot of the Bible is all about cultural laws and ways not to get sick. Most of Leveticus is really all about avoiding food poisoning and STDs. But on the other hand, I don't consider the Bible to be the absolute word of God. It was written by men, men make mistakes and allow their own judgement to color their words. I've learned that most Christians don't even understand half of what the Bible says. They just accept one interpretation and cling to it as truth without bothering to look at things in a historical and cultural context and form their own opinion.
