How Do You Feel About Those Annoying Camera Lights?

In my city, we have camera lights on many street corners. Supposedly, they take your picture, only if you go through a red light. But, the anxiety, that they cause when going through an intersection is enough, to cause an accident. You are so nervous that the light will turn, that you speed up. And, the fines are over $400.00. I am not arguing, that it is a good idea to monitor traffic. But, to me, it's more of a money-making thing. My questions to all of you, is your opinion on these lights? What kinds of experiences have you had with them?
