Hey, does anyone know of any good video editing software that i can download for free. i could google this but i want to see what other people use and find good. it needs to be able to edit downloaded clips from the internet and add images and text to the clip. know any?

Adobe Premiere - Adobe Premiere, maybe the most powerful video editing program.
I don't know exactly what you want to do, but you can try virtual dub. As far as I remember there is a free version of that program. As far as I know the most complete video editing software is Adobe Premiere, but it is not freeware.

Pinnacle Studio 8 - Pinnacle Studio 8, another video editing program.
Sorry, I forgot to mention Pinnacle Studio. It is not known as much as Adobe Premiere but some friend told me it is quite good too.

Well, you can use nero's one for a month, it is the best I know for non-professional editing (for professional there is not freeware nor shareware, I am afraid).
