How do you get your daily 8 glasses of fluids?

I have no problem drinking the suggested 8 glasses of water that is recommended for good health. My husband on the other hand, has a problem. He drinks artificially sweetened drinks and diet sodas. I think this is not good. I say there is no substitute for water. He says it doesn't matter if you put something in the water to make it taste better, you are still getting the fluids. Help us settle this one.

idlewild made a good point, do you really need 8 glasses of water per day. What if you work out for 2 hours every day. What if you are fasting on fruit all day? How about people who take medications that require the body to intake much more water? Water is necessary. Maybe you could carry a liter bottle with you. If you're concerned about having to use a public restroom, try drinking large amouts of water in the AM and PM when your home.

Thank you Munlake. Those are valid considerations. I try to keep water with me since it seems riciculous to pay high prices for individual bottles of water when I can get it cheaper by the case.

I try really hard to drink 8 glasses of water aday. I have a lemon tree and a orange tree I like to add a few slices or juice to my water to perk it up. I have heard that drinking water is really beneficial to keep the body clean of impurities.

Stay with the water. Your body will thank you. Usually you can tell people who drink a lot of water from those who don't by their skin. The skin is moist and fresh looking. You are so lucky to have a lemon tree and an orange tree. Are the oranges tart from the lemon tree? Sometimes when the two trees are too close together, the bees blend the two flavors (lol).

Hi! I always try to get my 8 glasses of fluids per day. Otherwise I get very, very thirsty! I agree with you, water is the best. I understand that sometimes a person wants more than water, but I always manage to drink at least 40 to 60 ounces of just water per day.

Thank you. Stay healthy. Maybe we can convince the rest of the world just how important water, pure water (however close we can get to that in this day and time), is to our overall health.

I've heard recently that you really don't need 8 glasses of water a day--scientists don't know how this became a "rule" and can't really find any evidence to support the number. BUT, it IS good to drink fluids throughout the day, if only to keep your body working well and to help prevent things like kidney stones.

Thank you. A lot of statements are made and become the rule from then on. No one remembers who said it or why, it just is. We never question it, but we should.

i like to get a lot from fruit, but i usually just try to drink 2L of water. i carry a water bottle around with me and have to remind myself to drink it! of course if i drink too much too fast, i may wind up looking for a bathroom at an inconvenient time!

I know what you mean about the inconvenient times. Public baths are not always so nice. But the body needs the water. So what are you gonna do. :)
