woman from my hometown got alittle more than she expected during her trip to chicago to see a live taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show. She was on the show were oprah gave the audience a large amount of money and told them to spend on anyone else but not themselves. Remember that one? The woman from my hometown did not think she could not do this challenge. To her amazement she spent a cent on people around her she paid for peoples bills that they owed. Which I thought was a very good way to spend the money.

Thats cruel to say you can't use any of the money for yourself though. That would be hard to do. But how would Oprah know how you spent it

I don't think that would be hard at all. I would love to be able to do that. If they gave you the money and said go out and help others. I think not only would it be easy, it would also be such a great feeling to see how happy others would be by it.

That is so cool. I heard about that episode but it's neat to have that different angle on it. I love Oprah. I hardly ever watch the show, but I listen to her XM radio station a lot and I really enjoy it. I think she is so well liked and influential that she could probably even run for president successfully. I have often thought that I'd love to be her friend, her and Gayle King.
I can't imagine that the woman thought she couldn't do the challenge. There are so many worthy causes out there, I would think that the bigger challenge would be to narrow it down to who would get money and who wouldn't.

I think she wants people to understand the feeling that you get from giving. It is truly better to give than to receive and I think that she has learned that first hand. I would be surprised if she doesn't have a followup show about it. She will probably reward them in some way for taking the challenge. But to tell them that before they give away the money would take away from the experience of giving without having an ulterior motive.
I think it was a wonderful thing for her to do because if they followed through and gave away the money, many people benefitted from it that she, herself would not have known.

Yes, that was the point she was trying to make--that it feels better to give than to receive. I think she *did* have a followup show not too long ago. I don't remember the specifics though. The audience members were also given video cameras along with the cash.

Well I feel it was a brilliant thing that Oprah did. It made people dig down deep into their hearts to spread warmth kindness and help to those around them, especially in a world that seems so cold and unforgiving. Bravo to the lady from your hometown too on helping those that needed financial help.

ophara is amazing.i dont get enough time to watch all the episodes but i love the show.each episode is special.she talks so well and has the capability of influencing people.
the idea of giving money and telling not to spend it on themselves is amazing.then people will know the problems faced by others, the problems we could have solved without the help of oprah.in these days we never think of others and this act of oprah will make us understand what all we can do for this society.
its a pity that the woman thought she wont be able to spend the money on others.this shows how ignorant we are about the problems of others

Oprah has all these superb ideas about how to spend her money. She just loves to give her money away. It's a good thing that she loves to help underprevilaged kids all over the world. I love watching all her shows. She is an inspiration to everyone around the world.

I think Oprah's point was to give from the heart and give to people in need. It was all about charity. I thought it was a good thing to do. I hope it encouraged more people to give. I think the woman from your hometown did good with her money.

i wished i could get someone to help me like that. i think it is okey if oprah got to do that for other people and i wished we all could do that.but we sometimes aren't the ones who are picked just be glad that oprah could do something like that and the woman could be the helper.
