Suggestions on how to find a relative

Does anyone have any suggestions on how a person can find their loved one even if they never met them? Is there any FREE resources a person can inquire information to where their relative might be located? Where should a person start? I am trying to find my father whom I never met, my mother and other family can't give me much information on him. All I know is his first and last name and his age that he might be today. I also know of the city and state to where he might have lived? But nothing concrete, so I was wondering how I can maybe find him with the credentials I have about him?

lost love - In need of help finding a missing love one
I sure will. I know there are hundreds or even millions of people in my situation. Theres nothing i would love more than to help another person find a missing love one also.
