Well, I'm glad Marilym Monroe turn the role down, if it was offered to her!
I can't imagine Breakfast at Tiffanys without Audrey Hepburn.

I have no idea what happened with 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', but I can say that the world was stunned when Audrey Hepburn was offered the role of Eliza in the movie version of 'My Fair Lady'. It was almost universally assumed that the first offer for that role would go to Julie Andrews, who had been the original Eliza in 'My Fair Lady' as a stageplay.

According to imdb.com, Julie Andrews was wanted first for this role, but Warner Brothers didn't want to risk a stage actress in a $17 millon film. Also they felt she wasn't a known enough film actress yet.

Because she was smart. It was a stupid movie. It didn't follow the book very well (not that I read it). Marilyn, while a sexpot, actually did have talent and B at T's was SO beneath her.

I really dont have an idea about this story. If anyone can tell me the truth, that would be great.

Breakfast at Tiffany's was one of the great cinematic love stories. I can't imagine Marilyn as Holly Golightly. Audrey Hepburn was perfect for it. She had the understated naivete that the roll called for. Marilyn would have been too much "sexpot" for the part.

According to imdb.com, Marilyn Monroe was originally cast as Holly Golightly, but her drama coach didn't think playing a call-girl would be good for her new image.
