I suffer from sever migraines. Because of my migraines I have random blackouts at any givin time and all I remeber is getting up off the ground. I am also pregnant. I have almost lost my baby twice due to the blackouts. I can not go anywhere alone because I never know when they will hit. The doctors don't know what to do with me and told me that I have to WAIT IT OUT. Do you think a person that has migranies that endanger their life should be told to wait it out?

I also have migraine but not as sever as your there is total black-out,I have an adult friend who advise me to consult a neurologist. try consulting a neurologist. Try to go to other hospital/other doctor for you not experience it again. i think doctors should not have done that to you or any patients. Try also using eyeglasses or contact lenses, for me it helps alleviates pain.

You must rest enough, eat healthy, drink enough, sleep enough. For migranes remember not to use medicines that may affect the pregnancy and ytour baby. You can use uncoventional medicine as long as it makes you take no risk. Your child has all the chances to stay healthy then. You must ofcourse try not to help the migraine process starts, and when going out take someone with you.

The biggest complication is that you're pregnant. You need to tread warily before trying anything. I use peppermint and lavender oils for my migraines and both help a lot BUT I don't know how this will affect your pregnancy.
Even though you are an active person, bedrest might be the best advice for you. I know you might hate it, but your baby's life is at risk and nothing is too much trouble for your baby's life. I hemorrhaged early in my first pregnancy and had to have strict bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy - I did so and it was worth it. You will be active enough once you have your new baby.
Good luck.

Essentials oils are not recommended for pregnant people... I just read about this recently because I was interested in aromatherapy...

I don't think you have to wait it out. Two of my nearest one have migranes. It's painfull and I know how it can cripple one's normal life.
But there is always hope. We are trying to solve the problem by taking ayurveda medicines. You can take help online also.
Please do not lose hope. We are all here to support each other. First try some search on migranes and solutions and then let us know how you doing. Wish you all the best.

I don't think that you should be told to wait it out. I used to suffer from migraines but I never blacked out from them and my mother used to get them to were she would be down for a whole week and her eyes would roll up in her head. She had high blood pressure so a medication for that worked for her. They should be doing test on you to find out how they can help you. Maybe you can see a specialist? I pray your migraines go away for good because you are in a dangerious situation the doctors should seriously be doing something more for you.

Are you sure that you are suffering from migraines, and not seizures? Has anyone been around when you've "passed out" that can confirm what actually happens to you? (What are their observations?) Because you are pregnant, you may have to take medical leave fro work (if you work) because you can't have any type of diagnostic imaging, etc., done while you're pregnant (except perhaps an EEG which doesn't involve magnitism or radiation...)and you don't want to potentially hurt your baby by blacking out say, while driving or walking down stairs. Anyway, as soon as you have your baby, I'd push (and push HARD) to get your doctor or HMO (or whatever the case) to investigate this completely-not just slap a bandaid on it by giving you a pain med or prevention med.

Well you are right I dont think so that doctors should say about all this matter to wait for it infact as soon as possible they should be the one to deal the problem so that your problem coulb be solved but its really sad to know that the doctors are saying to wait for it if they wont cure the matter then who will gonna do that.

When I get a migraine headache, I never take medicine for them....I got myself some calcium/magmagnesium.......You could ask your doctor if it's okay before you take it and you can get it a good health food store it's two things your body needs and the head ache will go away.....But ask your doctor if it okay frist........

Like everyone else I'd suggest getting another opinion, if only to satisfy your own mind. The only other thing I can suggest is that if anything triggers your migrains: lights, certain foods, stress etc keep well away from them.
Please don't think I'm being callous here but I'm not so sure that they truly endanger your life - pregnant women have often been known to faint for no reason - remember that if you do pass out, your body will somehow natrually try to protect itself and that often doubles when you're pregnant ( I don't know how; the way the body works boggles my mind :-) ) Yes I agree that it's dangerous if you were to be driving etc.
One other thing do you black out and then wake up with a migrain, or do you get the migrain and then black out? - if it's the second one, if you see the signs of a migrain coming (eye spots etc) then at least you can prepare yourself.

Don't wait. Get a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th opinion if you must. Migraines can be awful, I suffer from them too. Never blacked out though - that must be scary.

no,i do not think anybody should be told to wait it out especially when they are putting their health and baby at risk if i was you i would get a second opion.because something is not right especially where you are having blackouts that is not good so i would stress to the doctor that you know your body and something is not right and you should not have to wait it out.

I suggest you consult a migraine specialist and a neurologist. Migraines can be caused by many things, since you are pregnant and neglected to say whether or not you had these type headaches prior to the pregnancy it is difficult to make suggestions as this may be something related to it.
As for both a migraine specialist and a neurologist. Waiting could be the wrong thing to do.

Have you tried some other alternative healing techniques like reiki and quantom teach. These techniques give lot of relief from headaches and migraines. If you know a reiki master or a quantom touch professional try seeking help from these people too. These techniques have no side effects and are safe in pregnancy. You also feel lot relaxed after experiencing reiki. Try to find out a good reiki person whom you can connect with easily. This helps a lot. They wont be able to do the diagnosis but i bet these things do work if you have faith in them.
