I've heard so many discussions about their pros and cons, i want to hear from you guys. I need to decide on what to buy. I am currently using a desktop PC, some friends told me that MAC is better. So what do you think? Should I trade my desktop to get a MAC or should I just upgrade my PC?

It depends on what you do with your computer. A great deal of PC applications aren't available for Mac. Forget about playing games, most games aren't available either. Browsing and chatting isn't any different on a Mac, the interface routines are basically the same, most browsers are the same too (Internet Explorer for Mac is really problematic though, and many sites out there only work properly on IE, though this is slowly changing). If you want to try a Mac and have the money for it, then buy a Mac, they're especially cool for graphics applications (like the G5's). Just don't buy into the hype or be scared about viruses and spyware (it's just that more people use PC's than Mac's, therefore, hackers target Windows systems more... there was a Mac worm (I believe?) a few months back, btw). If you can afford both a Mac and a PC, then that's the best option :)

I don't believe there has ever been a virus that has been written that has been able to work on OS X though.

Why would that be true? A virus is just a program. All it takes is a user running the program, much like any other PC virus. There are viruses that affect OS X, but they're not out in the wild. A PC user who is careful can have as much peace of mind about viruses as a Mac user. It's also good to keep in mind that a lot of worms/viruses/etc. spread because people open attachments blindly. In a lot of cases, it's not the OS' fault. http://www.macvirus.org/

Incorrect. Now that Apple has MacIntels (that is to say Macs with Intel chips) you can run windows on a mac machine and therefore windows programs. Not only that but if you own a PPC mac then you still have the option to go with Virtual PC. You can run windows in a separate window and have full, seamless access to both your OS X Mac and Windows, whatever version you want.

I would say go Mac. They are by far better computers. And if there are some PC programs you just can't live without that don't have Mac counterparts, then you can spend a couple hundred more dollars and buy Virtual PC. You can basically make a section of your hard drive a windows machine and hence run windows-based programs. It's true that PC does have one advantage, and that is gaming. Most games work better on PCs. But if you're not a hardcore PC gamer, buy a Mac. You'll never regret it. Let's face it... every computer regardless of make or model will have problems at some point, that's inevitible. Just take care of your machine and you can get the most years possible out of it before upgrading or replacing it.
