I suggest you start with the Gospel of Luke or the Gospel of John. This will give you the best insight into practical faith and the life and teachings of Jesus. Jesus' teachings are revolutionary, and are practical for everyday living.

I would recommend that you start first with the Old Testament, specifically Genesis. Lets you get a bit of history at first and its fun reading it...then you can switch back and forth then from Old Testament to the New Testament

I would recommend:- EITHER a copy of The Insight Bible - this has a subject index where Key words (e.g. Lamb or Ark) are listed with book chap verse to read. OR you could begin with a Concordance; this being a separate publication which serves as dictionary of themes, subjects etc. OR obtain a publication in the theme of "Our Daily Bread" which gives an extract to read for a given day with further references to enlarge/enrich the learning from the Daily Reading.

I have read it through twice, now I am on my third time. I have read didfferent versions and I find it is better to start at the beginning. It is like a history book you need to know what happened first to understand what happened next. I suggest start at the beginning.

Open Bible - Open Bible: the Word of God
I would suggest you start with the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament. Mark presents a rapid succession of vivid pictures of Jesus in action. Mark presents a really thrilling, concise account, from the beginning of Jesus' ministry and leading to a climax. After the Gospel of Mark, I would suggest the Gospel of John. While you will read much of the same events, John presents them from a different viewpoint, centring on the great love of God. The Gospel of John is a more personal experience and a real love story.

I would suggest starting with Matthew, Mark Luke and John. Genesis is good, but the books of the law (Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy) can be real hard at times. Other good passages are I Corinthians 13, and Psalm 138. Psalm 138 is good to read over and over to understand how much God loves us.

I suggest that you read Genesis and Exodus first. That was precisely why I published GENESIS & EXODUS (Greek to English) because they contain the basics. I am a translator of the Word of God from Greek to English and I have already published also THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English) and many other books which I hope would help people understand the Word of God. These books are published and found at http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin

Better understand the basics first as we may not be able to understand God's message if we do not yet understand the beginning.

i am catholic and i have not read the whole bible and that is ok. if you want to start reading it and you do not know where to start then just start reading it from the start because you can read the bible in two ways. the first option is read it like a novel because you will know the life of christ and the hebrews culture.so, it is like reading a novel, culture and history. the next way to read it is ask a question in mind and place it in your heart then flip a page and you will get an answer.just simply enjoy the holy book, god would want that.

I suggest that you read the Bible together with OUR DAILY BREAD. It's a devotional book. It states there the chapters you have to read in a specific day. It really helps. So by the end of the year, you are able to read the whole books of the Bible.

That is great. Reading the Bible is not a novel that you get to where the best story comes, but it is knowing God as He is. And Since the Bible is all about God we should expect to learn more about Him anywhere in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. What book in the Bible did you first read?

Just don't go near revelations. It's disgusting stuff. I can respect the rest of the bible though i'm not Christian but revelations must be worse than the Nazi handbook.

When I read I don't start in one place, I start with a question or idea, then I use the reference in the back and reference different scriptures. Then when I get to a chapter or book that is intruging, I start reading from there. Happy reading!!

Start with the old genesis afterall it is the beginning. But for me my interest would be the revelation where action takes.
