Manage anxiety and depression with nutrition and other safer methods.

If psychiatric conditions are chemical imbalances, should we be managing the condition with synthetic drugs or natural remedies. There is a lot that can be done by using nutrition. I have recommended B vitamins, Lecithin, Calcium and Magnesium and a diet that regulates the blood sugar. Are there any other suggestions?
