When I was a child it was a tradition to have fruitcake every Christmas. I would watch as the elders would light up with enjoyment when it was time to cut the "cake". While standing there waiting to be served, a smiling aunt would plunk a large chunk of it on my plate. After politely thanking her, I would retreat to my chair with my prize.
I would look at the thing on my plate. Although I could recognize the nuts in there, I never could figure out what the big round green, red and yellow
things were.
I must admit that as a child I was totally brainwashed. I would eat it and somehow convince myself that it was o-kay when actually I didn't care for it at all. It was not until I became an adult that I learned that other people did not like it.
How about you? Do you like fruitcake?

My sister makes a good fruitcake every Christmas. It's the only one that I will eat. It's not my most favorite thing in the world, but it tastes good with a hot cup of tea. The green and yellow things I believe are marishino cherries dyed those colors.. there are nuts, raisins etc in it.. From 1-10 I would give fruitcake a 6.
