Notice I said women only. I don't need any guys coming in here saying "I use nothing!" or some other lame response.
I actually went with the Depo Shot which is a needle you get every 3 months. I always heard horrible things about it but it's been working for me for a little over a year now. I don't suffer any horrible side effects like weight gain or mood swings.
How bout you ladies out there?

Right now I am taking the pill but I don't want anymore children so I am thinking about getting my tubes tied. I am tired of trying to remember taking a pill everynight.
I may also talk to my husband about getting the snip snip snip, lol but we will see.

Im using the patch and loving it. So easy to remember. I know all the side effects and everything. But if you dig and actually do research...it is the same as just about every other birth control. My dr even said this after I questioned him about everything i was reading. Good luck with the depo. It made me gain 50lbs in one month. And a friend of mine it made infertil. She has had 3 drs tell her it was because of that shot she will never be able to have kids again. It just screwed her whole body up.

when i was on the pill my period was the same every month and only lasted 4 days. yahoo, but i had many other trubles with it and the depo shot black outs, headachs that would not go away, and more. i do the natrual family planning and have for three years now, first we used it to not have a baby then we used it to have a baby and that is how our 3rd came in. i have used it since she was born and she is 2 1/2 now and no oppses.

Well, I have been on the pill since 15 yrs old to try to regulate my cycle, since i have had to deal w/the curse twice a month pretty much my whole life. I have been on every different type out there, the patch too. But none of them have worked for that issue. As for getting pregnant, the pill has always been fine for that. I was on the patch for a while, but I thought all that sticky stuff, plus that gross looking patch, was a pain. So, back to the pill I went. I did just recently hear that they were going to release a pill for men. Think many will take it? lol

I was waiting for the weight gain but it never happened! I'm on the small side to begin with and my doctor explained that might have something to do with it. Normally people who are low in weight to start off don't gain that much while on the shot.

Well right now I have my tubes tied but before then I did almost everything. I used pills that were horrible to remember everyday plus they made me sick. I was on Depo for about 6 years and that was a nightmare *in the worst way*. You said you have been on for a year, watch out for false menopause I had that. I also used the Nuva Ring, can you say yeast. I was going to use the patch but my husband took one look at the side effects and said "no way". Can't wear IUD's because of cervical problems, and finally I did the whole natural family planning thing which worked for about a year and a half until I got preggers with my baby boy but it was so much hassle and I never figured out what my body was doing cause it was on chemical detox the whole time.

I've heard many people complain about the Nuva Ring. A friend of mine was on it and had the same problem with yeast infections.

So instead of taking a normal form of BC you depend on the morning after pill?

Well, I don't care for needles at all, so I could never go that route. I stick with a no estrogen birth control pill. It works fine for me, although, I really hate having to take one every day.

My friend goes to Mexico and gets me some sort of pills. It costs like 6 bucks for 3 months worth. Even with the pill, I am extremely irregular. I should go to the Dr but I hate that. I haven't been in over 3 years.
PS. Dr House is so cute!

I am taking the pill, Ortho-tri-cyclen lo
Its been pretty good, I got rid of a lot of pain and discomfort around menustration time.
I took the depo right after I had my son and had so many problems with it! I had a period for two months straight and then I had no period for like four months. I couldn't deal with the irregularity it had for my body, so I chose the pill.
Hope this helps someone!

You take that too? SO do I! I took the pill when my period started getting crazy irregular. I as getting them 1 week, sometimes 9 days before I was supposed to. It got to be so ridiculous, and I was under so much pain from my cramps.
I was really nervous taking the pill because I was scared of the side effects, but the only thing I've ever really experienced was mood swings, and now it's not as bad.

Well...it's interesting that you asky that. I am on the pill (Yasmin), and obviously it works for birth control, but I have PCOS and I take it, because without being on the pill, I'll never have cycles. It helps even out my hormones and prevents the huge ovarian cysts I used to develop. Great question!

I have taken the Depo before for about a year and never had any problems with it myself. Right now the thing that is working for me is after my last baby I had my tubes tied cut and burned. Has been working for almost 3yrs for me.

I am on the pill (orthro tri-cyclyn) I've tried the depo shot but it made me have my period for 5 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was horrible!!! I've been interested in the patch, but I do not want it to come off while I'm sleeping or soemthing wierd like that. Plus there isnt that much information out about it so im a little weary on it.
