Talk about what is your favorite holiday meal and why. Is it a tradition with your family? We usually have turkey with stuffing (dressing if you bake it outside the bird), cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and butter, a vegetable or two, followed by a variety of pies. Usually there is pumpkin, mincemeat, and apple. Anything else is a bonus. The meal might be proceeded by veggies and dip, crackers and cheese, and pickles.

I am a vegetarian, so I won't be eating any turkey or ham or goose. I enjoy eating vegetables, and I love rolls and butter and all the pie I can eat. . .

But no traditional mincemeat with real meat products in it. I still hope that you will enjoy your holiday dinner, and most of all you will enjoy the company of loved ones and friends.

I just noticed there is a link to a place you can look for vegetarian recipes at http://ypn-120.overture.com/d/sr/?xargs=zCFxsJ86iBLKEsiAm_UhX3U6ZCjmmym4bmTufArV6Qw9B1CcnpNUj7m-1_pELNG57dBC6Zpmrh2Y7lWoPfaDoJxI0sNdBbgULKe5VHsEBPSM8QpICj22s6Wr7nUpFyxaoistg0waJ3of0VZ15PkwNnKE6WgW7QitGPPfu2ZMu3vLDGVfcjzKtpGamiZ-iPaJFgY1A_fFvcKiLqbdvYFLnfl5bDThc2w_aroWy25ghtHtYr0i209iHLIhSr5N-SukMwLuAsAc5tyyZkx_apPZlGop_st2IoNnyFWGFNZe3dlLlxkrfJDV32PUEGfpKLVREBXfOzyyITfGejng9UhIpR781XrQwSX_

We'll be having turkey, that's what we always have. We'll have it with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, yorkshire puddings, sage and onion stuffing, brocolli and a couple of other veggies(I haven't decided which ones yet!) Oh and gravy of course. My partner is cooking the Christmas dinner this year. I did it last year and he wants to do it this time. Well, I'm not complaining except that I'll have to do the washing up afterwards! We'll probably have a home made cake for afters.

Christmas dinner - plenty of goodies to have and to share, soup kitchens will bring in the needy and give them warmth and a good meal on this holiday
This family does ham on Christmas, turkey is for Thanksgiving and even saurkaut is for New Years. There will be potatoes, corn, green beans, rolls, pumpkins pie is for Thanksgiving and Christmas since the pumpkins store well into the winter. Ice cream will be a treat and while there were harvest type cookines on Thanksgiving, there will be many kinds of Christmas cookes. We will be quite well fed on this holiday!

Ice Cream!! I know a family that makes homemade ice cream as part of a tradition of their family get together on Christmas day. For the ice they usually go to the nearest lake and chop out a chunk and break it up with a sledge hammer or the butt of an axe. The ice of course doesn't go IN the ice cream but in the bucket and around the outside of the tub in which the ice cream mix and mixer blade are churning. For many years they hand cranked. Now they have an electric one but I think they still use the antique crank machine as it makes more.
