NEEDED?…no. I lived in the Dominican Republic with very irregular electrical service. We had a fridge…but without electricity it was of little use. We learned to buy dry storage food (beans and rice) and the right amount of meat daily for our meals.
It is much more convenient to have a refrigerator, though. I like storing leftovers and eating them for lunch the next day.

Nowadays it's essential, we don't have deliveries, ice, salt is a NO NO , bugs abound and some of our medecine needs to be kept there. We work, too, away from the home and don't have our own vegetable gardens, cow for milk and have you ever tried to kill, pluck and clean a chook before getting on and preparing the meal before the chook goes off.

It is a necessary cost that we definitely don't mind paying for. Last year after Hurricane Rita we had to live without our fridge and freezer for 2 weeks, all of our food rotted and we realized then how much we missed it after having to eat spam and vienna sausage everyday.

yes, i can't live without refridgerator, especially in summer. In fact, I cant imagine anyone could do without refridgerator in summer unless he lives in a high latitude country.

Frigs have got to be the greatest invention of the 19th century! Just recently I had a problem with my frig and food spoiled slightly without me realizing it and I was soooo sick!

Not only Electricity and Chemicals. It is also boiling out the OZONE layer. More money and man hours spending on the OZONE problem. First it is better to put a date for Air Conditioners first. Then we can think of Refrigerator.

I would say there is a very need of refridgerator in daily life.. it helps us lot of ways life you can cook once and keep them for 2 -3 days in the refridgerator to eat. and you can make ice when you need and for all thebenifits the amount of electricity consumed is considerable.

its necessary where the temperature is very high and u cant servive without it, to store leftovers and vegetables and fruits its very much necessary, eventhough it has few bad effects on envirnment.

Sometimes I do wonder if we really need one here at home. We only use it for leftovers and we rarely eat those. We don't even make ice sometimes because the freezer gets full. Over time, we just throw what's in it. But I wouldn't know where to keep leftovers without it. It would surely save us 500 pesos a month if we didn't use it but I guess we really can't.
