Try your luck at www.Elance.com which got a good reputation in freelance projects. You may have to pay a very nominal charges to get registered. But i think it is worth to spend that amount if you are very serious in freelance projects.

It's almost impossible getting a project.trust me.It's not worth the trouble.Get a real job.the most you can get is 1 or 2 projects and it's not worth the time.

The one everyone always mentions is RentACoder.com. I've heard it's really competitive, though.
