Are tags really necessary? It serves no purpose. What do you think?

I always tag my messages, but I don't know if I earn something doing that. Anyone has found that is necessary to tag messages? Or it's only a time loss?

tags may help u search the topics u posted.. u see in mylot,, thers a lot of discussions...try giving tags...also if u give tag as ur user name,, whenever someone reads ur post,,all ur posts are shown below....
