I have no religious affiliation; in fact I think religion is an underlying cause of all the bad things in the world at the moment, does that make me a bad person? if so why?

as you know i have no religious affiliation either so i dont think it makes you a bad person but i know many will tell us that we will go to hell and all that.... if a person lives by their own morals and they are not hurting anyone i dont see why it should be such an issue that we dont all believe in religion

I agree with you and if you look back through history you will find that some of the worst atrocities have been committed in the name of one religion or another. Once everyone realises that everyone is part of the human race and stops breaking us down into categories we could maybe all live more peacefully.

We focus way too much on our differences than on similarities and i think it is sad.

too true...if the world was more accepting of others it would make it a better place...

I agree with Tigrashadow, just because you don't follow a particular religion doesn't make you a bad person, although I think biblically speaking you have to have a faith in God to be a good person, but it's been a long time since I read a bible, I may be wrong. I personally used to be a devout religious person, I won't bore you with the details of which one it was, but I realised that I didn't need the religion at all, I realised that if I lived my life as a good and honest person and helped others etc, that my life should be good too, you know, as in karma, so I now don't actually have a religion, but I do believe in karma. I don't see how not having a religion can make someone a bad person, I mean, think about it, Satanism and that sort of things are religions and they aren't necessaraly good!

Karma is a good in principle but often not in practice. i know and know of people who well i wish would end up in a burn ward or something because they are not very nice people, but they always seem to get what ever they wan regardless how they behave. sometimes karma works sometimes it doesn't.
