Do you think that there are parts of the bible that are missing or that maybe the original scripts have been interpreted incorrectly ? I wonder some times because the scripts of the bible were written in a lost unknown language and were interpreted by taking several differant languages and using them as a guide for the interpitation, also I often wonder if the bible was missing parts and why if the lost sea scrolls are supposed to be a part of the bible they werent added to the bible we use today

Big Bear - guess where I was!
((( Hello Earthlings ))) the Bible was not handed down from the sky. All the part of the Bible were written in their own times and edited in other times to suit the teaching schemes of the power mongers of the days. In not way does it represent all the human voices that have been all over the planet. In fact, it failed (and still fails) to represent the minds and voices of most of the earth's human population. Every bit of it was put together before Copernicus, 1859, Einstein, and the 21st century. Tragically, too many humans cling to beliefs and myths of ancient days as if they told the literal truth.

I think there are several things missing.. It's all interpited by man, so as usual, things will be left out.. It's like.. you sit 15 people in a circle, u start a whisper and by the time it gets back, it will be completely wrong.

I never thought of it like that before. But that is a really good way to put things into perspective. There is probabbly just as much human error in the bible as their is intentional ommitance.

Plus, we need to remember that the Catholic Bible is different. The Catholic Bible includes books that are not in the regular Bible. Also, the Jewish religion only uses the Old Testament(Torah). One reason (among many) that not all of the Mormon scriptures include more scripture is the belief that the Old and New Testaments are not all in order. N.T. Book of Revelation 22:18-19 This link has a ton of information that explains it far better than I ever could! http://www.bibleandscience.com/bible/books/index.htm N.T. Book of Revelation 22:18-19

Good question. I'm no expert and I'm sure someone with better information will come along to explain this but lewt me try and make some points. First, you need to keep in mind that the Holy Bible is a collection of books, not a single book it's self. Over many many years various "holy men" and subjects of God were inspired to write things they knew or understood about God. It's generally accepted by most Jews and Christians that God "breathed" the words into the authors and the men simply wrote what they were inspired to. As apposed to men writing their own words. This is belived to various degrees as it's rare to find many believers with the exact same beliefs. Second, when the Bible was created there was a commision that was formed by the church. This commision was charged with the task of forming a text that could give the complete story of God and provide us with all the teachings we needed to live a "rightous" life. The commision had many many different texts they needed to consider. Before this time people got their God from word of mouth and had almost no access to any of these individual texts to read, most people couldn't read at the time. Now, when faced with the decision of what should be included within the Bible, the commision had to consider, among other things, the validity of the text, it's usefulness, and wether it fit into their vision of what God was and what He wanted. Some texts were voted in and some weren't for various reasons. I won't go into the actual reasons they may or may not have had, that's another disscusion. The "Lost Sea Scrolls" I think were discovered long after the Bible was published. The Bible will not be edited as that assumes a mistake was made the first time. That concept damages the commisions work. Other books were considered and rejected from inclusion in the Bible. Reasons include the belief they are false, redundancy, insignificance, and many other reasons. Some of these excluded books are still considered Holy and used by the Vatican and other churches, they are just not part of the Bible intended for the every man to use for his spiritual lessons. So the simple answer is no, parts of the Bible are not technically missing. the Bible is complete because it was built, not edited. But there are other texts you may want to read involving God and religion. Force This is a basic and vague explaination. I in no way speak for the church, vatican, or Christians.

Aside from the excellent posts previously, to offer a different slant. What about the extra bits? The New Testament was composed by Greek speakers in Greek cities some time after the events. Anyone who has ever read any Greek History knows that all the characters are given elaborate speeches, as a means to educate the readers. No person who read the original version would think for a second that the words Jesus 'says' were his actual words. In fact, it reads like a Greek Philosophy handbook of the time. There is a lot of truth in The Bible, but there is a lot of extra stuff too.

There are a lots of parts missing. If it said to be a complete history of our ancestors then it is surely not there. As we get to know a lot about the characters in the bible through different sources. I think that only the good stuff and only reading which would motivate a man has been added

The gospels of maria, thomas and even judas are not more true, or untrue than the known gospel which are part of the bible. There are more gospels and if christianity is becoming more a subject of science, we will learn more of this very interesting history.

yes historically many books that were considered to be contemporary were excluded from the bible because they did not fit the ideaology of the church at the time. Gnostic christians, for example have a few books that were left out of the king james authorisd bible and indeed from the latin vulgate

Yes, there are many parts I think has been left out of the Bible. It was edited thousands of years ago to protect the church. That I do not mind, but what I would like revealed is; What happened to Jesus' life after 12 years old till he was 30 years old when the Romans started to prosecute him. The Bible is silent on this stage of Jesus' life. Can anyone tell me?
