It's a shame that the top users have to keep shoving out hundreds of silly questions to increase thier earnings without a thought to having a meaningfull discussion with the respondents.
Surely they could just as much make the same amount by keeping thier discussions continueing.
Anyone else agree?

I noticed one of the top users the other day was responding to almost every discussion with "I don't understand your discussion please explain?" I try to honestly take my time and answer. Maybe this is why I can't make it to $10 but I will keep trying.

This is probably not true, because they are obviously rushing around the site giving a vast number of responses to other discussions in order to boost their rating. Any time spent replying to responses on their own discussion would therefore reduce the number of paid responses that they make.
I do not condone this practice, because it is purely financially motivated with no concern for either the site or the respondents to their discussions.

i agree with you,i actually checked out their profile and one of them responded to one of my discussion..it was one-word response and he never came back to continue the discussion,so i kind of figured out how they get in today's top users..as for trying to keek our own discussions alive,i am not sure anymore..i realised that our ratings, and then earnings only increase when we post a response..they never increase when we get responses in our discussions,so this makes me wonder:do we earn anything when people respond in our topics??i am still confused

I am confused as well because I try to respond to all the responses that respond to my responce then respond to the responce of that response but I don't seem to be rewarded for responding to those responses
Well I know what I mean if you don,t lol.

Yes, I agree with you Deeeky. There are too many silly questions that are repeated over and over by different users.
You get the same amount of points by responding to your responses, in a discussion started, but some don't even seem to bother giving responses, they just plough in as many three or four word discussions as they can, in order to earn money. I've noticed this in some of my friends.
I don't answer a lot of those questions. I tend to look for something I can really get my teeth into and put in some valuable responses.

I think that is the general idea really but with us being so dedicated to make this site one of the better class of sites on the web rather than a poore site it is hard to ignore to respond to all the resonses so that the community can get a clearer picture.
That said, has the picture become clearer to you from my last two or three comments?

man i do agree with you. all they do is post one-liners in random discussions, and they get to be top users for it. it makes mylot less informative and less intellectually stimulating. and i dont know how their discussions qualify to be in the top discussions. could you enlighten me? i started a thread about this, maybe people can help.

The only thing that I can suggest is to look at the top users discussion topics and blast the site with the same type of silly questions that they have creamed off the yahoo questions and answers site!
Either that or mylot to readjust the algorythm for the top user.
If that is the quality of top users it is a sad relection to the rest of the community of this site.

I agree with u and could find that there are many questions that demand 1 line answers, n have no sense. Many have become top users today. Its a sad that good questioners are left behind and these men have grabbed d place.

yea i agree many people get stuff from yahoo questions and answers site.. im also thinking that some of the serious discussons like "my boyfriend has this problem" or "my girlfriend has that problem" or "im pregnant!" or somethin like that is just a lie to get more discussions.. i mean theres so many problems its funny.. all the top discussions are problems in life.. and people share them so openly too..I mean no offence im sure a good amount are true but im almsot 100% sure theres fake ones out there

I agree with you.I think the main goal to visit mylot is to share our opinion on many issues. It is just a christmas gift from mylot if we can earn money here. If post many useless message in order to increase the rate, I think it is not a easy way to get rich.

I'm new to mylot and still learning my way around. The few discussions I've started have been about things that interest me and I hope others.
I look for topics to respond to that interest me and that I hope I'll have something to contribute to. I don't care for the one word answers(unless you're thanking someone for responding to you) one words answers aren't a discussion to me.
I will just keep looking for topics that interest me and trying to think of good conversations to start.
Thanks for the discussion.

Touche to that! I noticed that many don't ever go back and respond to comments in their discussions. I think that's a bit rude. If people are good enough to respond to their discussions, they should give you the respect of a reply! I note that a lot of the one liner and silly question users are getting thinned out a bit though. Good on ya Mylot!

i think their strategy is to post a lot of topics so that in the process they could have at least one or two quality topics posted. it is a law of probability. More topics posted
better chance to have a quality topics posted.
