Have a Chia pet? Are they worth the money?

My son has been asking for a Chia pet. I've never had one so I have no idea if they work like they portray in the commercials. Do they really work? Or is it just something I'd be wasting my money on? I suppose it's not something that's exactly useful but if it's going to entertain the kids...
