Why do we LIE when infact we hate to be LIED?

My subject says it all. Our family is going through a crisis right now which started with a lie. And I am just so tired to hear a lot of LIESSS. Countless of them.
I do LIE but just white lies whenever my nephew throw tantrums at me. I have to persuade him to something so he would stop (bad me!)
What is your input about this?

Yes a lie is the most disturbing factor many a times. The truth bites you from the outside but a lie bites you from the inside. To hide one lie you in turn have to say many other lies too. Sometimes situations arise when we actually do have to lie, but it should be avoided in any case.

In my experience people tend to lie more to pople who are close to them for various reasons, timin they feel that at the time others cant hadle the truth/ got enuf on their plate already... then it becomes to late. might lie to stop someone getting hurt for eg someone newly ex-boyfriend was seen dating another girl the day they split. I have always been a stron believer in telling the truth... I dont lke hurting people but, i think it is better that you find out now rather than later when the damage is possibly irrepairable. Ten you have children and people who are only involved as a 3rd party, for a child especially when they are asking questions how much is too much to disclose and possibly how will they see people in their life if the truth is told. where do you draw the line for lies in protecting the relationships and feelings of those you most cherished. haven't you ever told a lie and for what purposes were they?

I have had told lies, of course, I think everybody has done it also. My main purpose? Maybe saving myself out of embarassment or maybe just like what you said, preventing hurt to the person involved.

we lye because to tell the truth would hurt more than the lie, and yes i hate to be lied to too
