I used to live outside of the United States for a while, and it seems that people all over there place have different views af what it is like here. Some people think that there is no poverty or crime, others look up to it as the greatest country of the world. But is also the most hated country in the world. The United States, a great country, the one i like to call "the belly of the beast" great in size and power, and also at war and killing and control. please, let me know what you think.

I live in the United States of America. I love this place, but I don't think it is the best place on the planet. There is LOTS of crime and poverty in different states and places, so it's really just like any other place on this planet. I like a lot of things about America, but I also hate a lot of things about the people. People here can be so naive and rude most of the time. I also don't agree with the way a lot of us think. It can be like that anywhere though.

The USA was the best place on the planet immediately after Exercise WWII. The American people have always been a kind, generous, God-fearing lot. And in my opinion, they still are.
But the USA has gone on a big slide over the last few decades. It might be an inevitability of the life cycle of an Empire - this sort of rise and fall has happened with just about every other great Empire the world has seen.
Anyway, despite the television sitcoms giving the viewer that all Americans are millionaires and live in mansions with the best cars and everything, we know that's really not the case. Americans generally have about the same lifestyle as anyone else in the Western world, and I know from the Internet that a LOT of Americans are having a real hard time economically just now.
Here's the problem that I can see - the USA WAS once the greatest country in the world - no matter what criteria you used to make that judgement. Those days are well past us now, but it appears to me that the USA is in denial. The government has been hijacked by a bunch of war-mongering fascists (ie, run by the big money corporate interests for profit above all else). And I could be wrong, but it also seems to me that the American population has been enveloped by the mists of a controlled media, so they only get to see and believe what their friendly government controllers WANT them to.
Pretty much all the real manufacturing and technology has been outsourced to other countries now, so the US economy is largely floating on smoke and mirrors. Has anyone noticed the explosion of pyramid schemes on the Internet lately, all disguised as legitimate "businesses" and all promising huge wealth for doing nothing? A canary in the coal mine, I suspect.
Americans are kind and generous people, but unfortunately also very naive and ill-informed about the rest of the world, and even about what's going on in their own country. But as I suggested before, all these things might be unavoidable elements of the life cycle of Empire.

And what country would you suggest is better? Seriously. Despite the issues currently brewing on our shores, one still has the absolute best chance at life, liberty and success inside our borders. We shout and complain about our government, but that is because we are allowed to. Nobody is going to come inside your home and take you away for stating your opinion.

i think US is one of the best countries. they have a good economy, a successful country and the people are disciplied compared to my country when it comes to following traffic rules or littering in the right place. but US is not a perfect country there are still things that you will not like about this country. but still i appreciate this country for being a first world country.

The country is a good place but the attitude of the leaders are wrong thinking that they are superior in every thing others are their slave and other should ask what to do and every thing should not be done without their permission.am very sad to say that

I agree that just because someone may think our president is an idiot, don't hold it against everyone in the country. But, we tend to do the same thing. What would be the first thing most Americans thought if they heard someone was Iraqi? They'd assume "terrorist". Just because Iraqi leaders had skewed ideas, or because some of the people agree with those ideas, doesn't mean every Iraqi feels the same way.
I think America has the potential to do a lot of good, which we've shown at times. But, there is also potential to do a lot of harm which, sadly, we've shown that at times too.
I agree with the person who said that you can't really judge a place until you stay there a while. Even traveling to a country for short periods, you do'nt get an accurate picture of what that society is really like.

Hi! I am from Holland and we live in a ango/american sociƩty. when we watch television or listen to the radio, their is america? clothing of people are often american style and shops and stores have often englisch names. And that is O.K. But we never had getto's and they are rising fast. I am sorry but that is no good example that America gives.

I'm also from holland and america is proud on its country, its political system and its people.
That is fine, but when there is poverty, spill of energy and oil, and not mch help for the poor countries, then men starts to wonder.
It's more believable if people outside the USA say that it's such a great nation. Then you can refer to those people. To say such things yourself is not modest.

in my opinion, USA is very big and power country in this world. The economic fundation is stabil so it being the basic of world economic. Most of people is a good one and love in peace not war. And they also disagree with their president to make war inorderto fight terorism :)

its a cheap country to live in, with too many fat people, the president is as dumb as a monkey and yet the special forces can kill anyone on the planet within 60 seconds. They start strange wars in Middle Eastern countries for the hell of it, then start buying supermarket chains in other countries with their huge multinational coorperations, and then McDonalds sues someone again...its the American way

everything in this world is not perfect.we all know that usa is onek of the greatest country in this world. So there must have something special which helps them to take the best place ever.Mainly the people who lives there are hardworker.they work very hard and they earn money.they love hteir country.they are disciplined. But if ther try to concern about huminity and antiwar and not killing people.then they can get the good response from people

To me, USA is a powerful country because it can start the Iraq war to get things straight for the world. Usually, the whites* are very rich whereas the blacks* are not so. (*Sorry if these are not the right terms to use).It is the leader of modern technology. Human rights is very much talked about in the country.
