For me it's a tie between Wishmaster and Oceanborn! Although I very much love all Nightwish albums. In terms of songs I especially prefer the fast, more intense, more energetic ones; for example Kinslayer or Planet Hell. Slower ballads I am not as crazy about, but still I don't pick and choose Nightwish songs, I enjoy listening to their albums from beginning to end without skipping a thing!
Aghghgh I sure hope they manage to find a classically trained singer as good as Tarja! I wonder if it's possible! But one can hope!

I like some songs from Oceanborn (Sacrament of Wilderness, Sleeping Sun). And I've noticed that I like older albums more than the newer ones. Hope they'll get a very talented new vocalist.

Yes, orchestra is very nice on Once, but in my opinion Tarja's voice is not as powerful and cool as it was in the previous Nightwish albums.

My favorite Nightwish album is probably Wishmaster because it simply features the most of my prefered Nightwish songs. Close second would be Oceanborn and I also really dig Once, even if it's more commercial.

Magniqfique ;) I have yet to see Nightwish live, though that'll be a hard thing to do nowadays, too bad I won't get to see Tarja with them anymore. Where in France have you seen them?

It would be Wishmaster. But somehow Once is also a ver good album. It's sounds more mature and more technical.

I´m a bit surprised of (almost) nobody mentioned "Century Child" as the best album of Nightwish. There is no doubt about this fact for me. The voices of Marco and Tarja sound perfect in this album. Powerful and touching.
Moreover, "Century Child" includes some of the best songs of this heavy metal band: Beauty of the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Ocean Soul and so on.

And century child...
They are both great.
Asually all the albums of nightwish are great but these two are my favorites

My favorite album would have to be Once, the majority of my top faves come from this album so it would definately be classified as my favorite. Second place would have to go to Oceanborn. I could just sit back and listen to those two cds for hours. In fact I have been known to do just that.
As for favorite songs, well that's a very long list but I shall endeavor to condense it. Top faves: Romanticide, Planet Hell, Dark Chest of Wonders, Creek Mary's Blood, Moon Dance, Slaying the Dreamer, 10th Man Down, Elvenpath, Tutankahmen, and End of All Hope.
