This certainly is going to sound picky to some, but I really would like to be able to read your profile. Some of you use a very dark background, then have the letters in a dark color as well. These old ranny eyes cannot read them. I would be willing to wager that I am not the only one who has this experience. The dark backgrounds are stunning, just select better contrast for the type. After you read this post, go look at your profile, see if a stranger could read it.

I have noticed this quite a few times. As soon as the option of modifying one's profile was given, a lot of people seem to have got carried away and overlooked the actual purpose of the profile page.
It is not difficult to create a clear readable contrast between the background and the text, but as you say there are many unreadable profiles at the moment.

Oh, so this is a new option! I am such a newbie myself I did not know. I sure hope a few other people go look at their own profiles. Now my husband is not even sure how his got modified, he said he did not do it! thanks so much for the response.

There is no reason to get upset. I like it when people give me constructive criticism and suggestions and advice. I was playing around with it when they first put that in and did not think about the color combinations. :-) Thank you for your vote.

I have seen a few flame wars here, though, for differences that should have been agree to disagree. I always like to take constructive criticism.

I think yours is pretty good. It is still bright, but bright is okay. Obviously you did not get ticked off when someone told you that. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for bringing this discussion up! I myself have problems with other members discussions, some I hardly can't read. If they have black background then they should select white on their text. I mean contrast. so people can see and read right? Mine is pink because pink is my favorite color ehehhe. I didn't change the white background because white seem to be good on a blue text. Thanks:)+

I love your profile page. The colors are soothing and you can read the words clearly without eye strain. I hope that others can remedy their pages too. When I encounter a page that is unreadable, I find if I highlight it the words are readable.

Response has been really good to this discussion. I think we all want to be individuals, but we also want to put our best foot forward, so to speak. Thanks for the response.

I also hate it when a page is unreadable, it puts people off wanting to come back. For my profile page, I went for a dark background with bright text, so people are able to read it. The colors I have gone for are so that they match the look of my site which is http://xtracash.co.nr What do you think? Any good?

The only part on your profile I find hard to read is the part that begins "Creating my new site" the grey is almost too dark. I really like the crisp look of the rest of it though. Thanks

I am hoping that this discussion will help people see that they need to be readable to get more responses. I truly do enjoy learning about people from their profiles. thanks

I am trying to modify mine so that others can read it. There are times when I encounter a profile that I cannot read. I highlight it so I can read it. Using your favorite color is great, but if it hinders reading what is there, it is not good. People should also know that people with conditions such as diabetes cannot tolerate the bright pinks or greens. They cannot read the print.

I did not know that about diabetes. We sure learn a lot here from each other. Thanks for responding.

I agree! Although see more of... bright neon colors on bright neon backgrounds. It doesn't only clash - it hurts. I try to have a good theme, and I make sure I can read it! Actually, I think I use my AIM theme that I created for myself. I've gotten compliments on how soothing it is. I hope it is! I want people to be able to read it. ^^

Hi, your profile is soothing, at a glance the white text makes me think of clouds in a beautiful summer sky. Thanks

I have a friend like that. She uses all sorts of crazy colors. She thinks its cute. It would be - if anyone could actually read that mess she creates. She calls me boring and bland for never changing my profiles, or my font colors in messengers LOL.

I guess there is something to be said for all kinds. I do love color, but I am getting older, and certain combos are hard to read. Of course I had better go debland mine pretty soon, since I brought up this topic. Thanks for replying

I wholeheartedly agree to this. Would love to find some of their discussions to answer when I go trolling around. If I can't see it then they don't get some of the responses they are looking for. One more thing about some of those profile is that they run videos or something and those of us on dial up get our computers frozen. We can't handle alot of movement codes across pages. Thanks for discussing this. We could use some help!!

I did not know that about dial up, but it does make sense. I do not think people are difficult on purpose, but have not seen it with our perspective. You are right, fewer people will respond.

I am not sure what you find strange, it is just that some colors do not have enough contrast for all the info on profiles to be read and appreciated. Thanks for the response.
