How much do you tip delivery people?

When I go to a restaurant, I usually tip 18-22%, but I've always tipped pizza/chinese delivery folk about 10-12%. What about you guys? I don't want to be a cheapskate, but I thought this was the norm until recently someone told me they tip like 5 bucks on a 25 dollar delivery.
I'm not debating it here, but I always figured that pizza/chinese delivery people are really just dropping your stuff off which isn't comparable to the service you get at a restaurant which is continual and more taxing. I mean, nobody tips gas station attendants any more either.
Also, some places charge a buck for delivery. Should I really spend six dollars tipping someone for dropping off a couple of pizzas?
I dunno, I guess this is kind of a poll...I'm just curious what the rest of you tip delivery folk, or what the accepted "standard" tip is for a chinese/pizza delivery person.
While we're on the topic of tipping, I'm curious how you people handle bartender tips? Depending on where I am, if I'm paying cash (i.e. no tab), I may just drop a wad of cash at the end, guesstimating and overcompensating my guesstimate a bit on how much I drank (I usually do this in quieter, smaller places), or I'll typically pay a buck per drink ordered no matter the cost, occasionally rounding up. If a drink costs 4 bucks, I'll give $5. If $6, I'll give $7. If $9, I'll give $10. If $12+, I leave and find a different bar because that's ludicrous. If I order, say, a round of three drinks and the total is 16 bucks, I'll usually just give them the 20 and give them the extra buck.
Again, just curious what you guys do.

Plus the restaurants are usually already jacking up the prices when its delivery as compared to take-away. Still everyone needs to make a living, which explains why half of the third-world seems to be in MyLot. Maybe just offer them a slice of pizza on your next delivery?

I try to tip $2 on $10 [which is 20%], because having worked in the food industry I know how lousy tips can be. However, you can still be a sucky server and I will tip less.

Well i must admit it isnt that much
it really depends on where i go
I mean if it is a great ambience restuarant i would prolly end up paying more! But then if it isnt upto the standards i would prefer to pay less
So it all depends

i tip them 2 dollars at most. i dont know what percentage that is of the food..its just easier to give them two dollars and send them on their way.

Hubby has delivered pizza off and on for many years and we had to live off of his tips. He used his own car, gas, and put alot of wear and tear into the car, new brakes every 3-6 months, and back-breaking work for less then minimum wage + tips. All that said when we tip we tend to be generous, because we know what its like working for tips! One exception is poor or rude service then we tip 1 penny so the waiter or waitress knows we did not forget.

i generally not plan to give tip how much...purelu depend upon service...taste of food..decide the amount of tip.i am not so particular in fixing different amounts to different services.

I tend to tip regarding the quality of service I am getting, whether this is a restuarant, delivery service, or a bar. If the service is great, the person gets a really nice tip. I have tipped as much as $10 on a $30 bill. But I have also not tipped at all if the service was shoddy. This is just easier for me to do than figuring percentages. LOL

I usually average 10% for nearly all tipping - providing the service has been satisfactory. Staff have to really put themselves out, or do something special, to get a higher percentage.

I think you should always tip. I am a delivery boy myself, and hate it when people do not tip. Especially when I deliver on time and am friendly. The biggest tip I ever received was over 22 dollars and was only for 2 pizzas. People like that make my day and I like it. I believe you should always tip in restaurants or anywhere else where tipping is commomn. It is the right thing to do.
