After being diagnosed with PCOS? I think I might have it. Haven't had my "." for over a year! Can I still get pregnant?

I think firstly you need to find ot if you do have PCOS. I have had PCOS probably since I was 9 or 10. That's when the weight gain started. I had the classic symptoms-lack of regular periods - could go for months or even years between them. I had fertility problems, but luckily through treatments I had three boys (first one - he took three years of treatments, then twins - they took two months!) (Glucophage wasn't around in those days so I had treatments the same as the IVF women, though conception was natural)

I didn't get diagnosed until I was 27! It wasn't as well known about as it is now, though it was first written about in the 1950s. For years endocrinologists told me my problem was in my head! I can't tell you how that made me feel. Until one endo finally knew what was happening to me and diagnosed the PCOS. And I went on to meet lots of women like me (makes me wonder about those other so called specialists!) The cysts are there for life unless you have them surgically removed - they are tiny cysts anyway. Anything else? just ask.

Wow, you are too lucky! 9 or 10, when did you get diagnosed? Did you know you had it? Also, what happens to those cysts??

I was a lucky person i actually have three children i never really had the lack of hormones to have children. when i was diagnosed with PCOS i had just had my third child and my doctor was kind of shocked that i had no problems with concieving. i have a 7 year old 6 year old and a 3 year old. although my oldest child was concieved while i was on birthcontrol. so i could just be one of those weird ones.

well I have PCOS and I tried a long time to get pregnant and eventually i got pregnant. If you do not ovulate then go see a Reproductive endo and they might put you first on metformin or glucophage. And then you might need some injections or medicines to get pregnant. But everyone is not the same may be you will get pregnant on your own.

You think you have PCOS or you have been diagnosed? Which is it... PCOS has several treatments but there is no cure.. Its a complex syndrom but women have been known to succesfully make beautiful babies anyway.. You need your endochronologist to help you first. Once you get your hormones and endochrine system in check you should talk about getting started with your family.. I take Metformin which is known to make you ovulate and as you know you dont when you have PCOS. you may get pregnant then but it is not a good idea while taking metformin/glucophage. Talk to your DR. A specialist not your primary care person or your gyno. you need the endochronologist. Keep you head up cause you may still have those babies yet..

Absolutely! I have been disgnosed via x-ray (typical string of pearls (cysts) visible on my ovaries from eggs that didn't drop) as well as some insulin resistant symptoms. We had a surprise first pregnancy in '98 which came after over a year of no AFs. Then, despite no birth control, nothing for 5 years. We ended up seeing an infertility specialist who put me on Follistim and Novarel shots. After two cycles I had an IUI which gave us our 2.5 year old twins. Now I am 3 weeks away from delivering our surprise #4 (and getting my tubes tied!) Rest assured it can happen. I found a lot of info on soulcysters.com forum when I was first researching this. I think you'll find it helpful too. Good luck!
