Can you block people on myLot?

Perhaps this is a strange question as myLot is a site about making money and participating in discussions. But I'm starting to think I'd really like to be able to block some of the users here at myLot.
I'm not looking to have anyone punished or banned or anything like that, but there are just some posters who's topics and comments that I'd really rather not see, even if that means seeing a slightly reduced selection of topics from which to choose.
I've only been at myLot for one week, but I've already come across several people who are just... well, ignorant and offensive, and I'd really rather not come across their comments.
Do you think myLot would consider putting a feature like this in place?

I think it is a great idea. There are constantly people joining and would continue to bring new choices of discussion questions. Being able to block people would help to stop receiving offending comments that some just like to leave. I have been on the received side of that too. It is very frustrating being attacked in a discussion. It has even made me consider quitting myLot a few times. But in the end, that person would have won.
I think if we had the option of blocking a person, this would stop some from quitting and get the point across to those that they offend by limiting their options also.
Have you submitted a suggestion? Maybe you can use some this thread as a reference to mylot in your suggestion.
It really would be a option that I would like to be considered.

I think it would help out a lot. Personally I get tired of the topics that show nothing but prejudice and ignorance. I have no problem with someone posting a topic that asks a question about a partticular subject. Such as depression. But I find it offensive when they post a topic and they know it's going to tick people off. I know all we have to do is not post to but it would be grat if we block it. Oh, another good idea is if we had a edit option. Anyways that just my opinion.

I just wanted to add a bit of clarification to my topic. I'm NOT asking for anyone to be removed from the site or to have their ability to post topics or comments restricted.
What I'd like to see is the ability to have these user's input hidden from ME, not anyone else. What I mean by this is that I'd like to have a form of "user filter" that filters out certain user's topics and comments when I'm logged into myLot. Those user's content would definitely still be there, but because of the user filter, I wouldn't see it and therefore no it exists. But if you haven't "blocked" that certain user, then you could see it no problem.
Does that make more sense? I certainly don't want myLot to go banning people or restricting them or anything like that! I should have used the word "filter" rather than "block" in my original topic.
Thanks so much to everyone for your input!!

i would just like myLot to clean out useless discussions like whats your age, whens your birthday and the like. myLot issued alerts about manually deleting useless discussions and that would serve us good to make myLot a good community for opening good discussions.

I agree that the useless discussions should be done away with. I am new here to MyLot, too but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a lot of the "discussions" are not really "discussions" at all. I hate having to sort through all of the junk to find a good topic to respond to.

Well i don't know if u have a procedure to block any one but I know a thing which can help u,
To the side of any post there are three options in boxes as + - and ! + stand for report positive,- for report discussion negative and ! stands for report abuse,
If u think that particular post is a silly one u can rate it as negative and as more ppl rate it as negative, the discussion will be deleted.andif u think some discussions are abusive then use ! to rate it .........
Think this information come any use to u.bye

Its good if mylot put feature of blocking in this site. But, there is negative things also coz it will make subjective judge of someone about the response from ourselves. In my opinion, Just let it person put any comment in your topic as like they want, although it bad or good. Dont take worry about it coz i m sure mylot will banned people which not giving good response :)

haha, that would be brilliant. those of us who want intelligent conversation, will not have to wade through the ignorant, uneducated, pointless posts. but i think that some people on here should be banned. mainly the spammers, or ones who make a million stupid posts just for money.

There is the answer I wanted. I was thinking about being able to delete comments to my own discussions that I found offensive. Someone mentionned that this of course would cause a rash of people deleting other people's comments in their discussions which would lead to lower scores, which would lead to deleting just for the purpose of lowering scores of people you don't like. We really don't want to see that happen. By doing it the way you say...blocking the comments of users I don't want to see...no one would be penalized for losing entries. I agree this would be a great feature. myLot are you listening? Thanks Wyrdsister.

There is already a feature like that in Mylot. Beside your comment, you can see three buttons (+, -, !)
Keep the mouse over them and that will show the explanations.
If you think a comment is offensive, mark it offensive or negative. The owner of the account will be seriously affected if he get a lot of negative marks like that.
Its a kind of rating. So if you get negative rating then people wont get anything from the website. These people who come here to post for the sake of posting are, for sure, after money. When they wont get it, they will stop doing this spamming.

I think it would be ok if this is possible. But one thin I know now is that you do not add them to you list of friends. Secondly, I already have some name in memoty. onece I see their post, I don't even belabour myself to go through whether meaningful or othrwise. Just try closing your eyes at those that are offensive. This is a mixed group of people and you just can do without having the bad ones around.

That's a very good point. It is true that I get to remember some of the user names of the more annoying myLotters, and so I don't bother with their topics either.

i get your point and i know how you feel. there's this one time when i started a discussion. then, one gave me an answer: "sorry, i don't know the answer.".. my goodness... why did that person bothered to post a response when his/her response is no need for me? i mean, i am posting questions because i am interested in knowing other's thoughts about it.. an answer like that annoyed me a lot. but kind as i am, i did not give that person a minus rating. i just hope i won't get across such an answer again! but your comment is good. enabling us to block users we don't wanna get answers from. through that process, people will be forced (atleast) to give better answers. better place then for mylot members who are interesting in sharing our thoughts well.

It depends on how you would want to block them, I think you should just report an abusive comment if you come across one, they will be warned and if they don't stop they will be kicked off, maybe you can even send your idea to the mylot staff and see what they say, hey it can't hurt.

I would never block anyone. It's the internet, and if you don't like someone, them perhaps ignoring their post is the best way to go. It takes all kinds to make a website work. I've been on sites where everyone thinks and believes the same....and trust me....that gets real boring.

I don't believe there's any way to block discussions that you see on mylot. If you find topics you feel are inappropriate, mylot would like for you to report them via the ! next to the posting.
Believe it or not, mylot has done a tremendous job of eliminating junk postings and offensive people from the site. A couple of months ago it was much, much worse. They will appreciate any help you can give them in order to bring mylot up to high quality standards.

Yeah sort of like a filter option would be nice, I've brought it up before on here and the reaction has been positive, so maybe if they see it suggested enough they will implement it.

I'm at another message board where there is an ignore feature. So you won't see any discussion the user made, but if there is one they reply in you will see everything but their reply. It's a neat little function. So, we know it can be done..
