Why is HIM so special? Charisma of Ville Valo?

Man, these guys' music is so relaxing...I don't care whether it is called love metal or sissy metal, it is the thing that I enjoy as well as many HIM fans out there.... Never been a fan of screamy rock songs or wacko loud hard rock/metal, and don't see the point in it.
P.S. It amazes me how Ville keeps toying with the press and newspapers/tv shows.... one time he says he is bi, the other time he denies it and says he lied, then comes back again to his first claim!

i am the biggest HIM fan alive! i had the chance to go to one of their live concerts this summer when they came to Sibiu, Romania and it was awesome! i totally love them!

HIM are good simply because they are skilled musicians, I don't think you should focus all of your attentions simply into Ville Vallo. They have indeed a softer sound than most bands within their genre and are extremely popular, facts that make them be dissed by a great share of people of their music scene, but if you like their music that's all it should matter to you. About those Ville claims...it's all publicity stunts he does in order to confuse the press and center the spotlights at him & the band, as any person would get. Wouldn't you do the same if you had to answer to the same questions over and over again? I certainly would.

I'm not exactly sure I can describe why I love this band so much. The music, lyrics and vocal style of Ville all come together to produce this kind of atmosphere that resonates to the very core of my being. I know I sound like I'm being over dramatic, but good music in general really touches me. The unique sound of the music of this band just has this effect on me that only a small handful of other bands/songs do.

Totally agree here... The first thing that caught me in HIM, was the deep shivers giving (never heard before the like) voice of Ville... When I got to listen to their music, and know them more, I discovered an excellent guitarist and songs.... add the unique character style Ville decided to go with to rhyme their music, and you get an excellent talented and inspirational band.

I just love H.i.m. which is odd because they just call me down when I find myself in need of support. They're music is special so balanced, not too harsh ,not too fluffy but just perfect if you ask me. The vocals, the guitars the voice are just in perfect balance. Despite of the band's image , H.I.M. is one of the best bands ever too exist because you hardly ever find a song in their discography that you might not like.
My favorite band ever to exist but I am sure that they still have a lot to give!
