Grab bag gifts

My kids all came home from school informing me that they need to bring in a 5.00 grab bag gift. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have 2 girls-9 and 6. My son is 14. I think that 5.00 is a hard amount to find a gift. Any suggestions would be appreciated

OH wow. If my son was in school right now and had to do that, I would be writing a very nasty letter to the teacher and the principal. Unfortunately my family and I cannot afford that... so our letter would be nasty because we don't want to but because we literally cannot afford to! Actually I would also be calling the teacher and the principal! Cause this is bull cr*p to force kids to bring a $5 gift bag! Schools can allow kids not to say the pledge of allegiance so I am sure they can let your kids slide with this...

It's not that I mind the gift, it is just hard to find a meaningful grab bag gift for 5.00. Yes, money is tight this year for us too. I think many people are having a tough time this holiday season
