Yeh i belive in it it is a REAL disorder I used to go round to my friends house quite a bit when one day her Uncle came to stay for a wile she said he wasnt right and i though he mabey was just ill or something but to my surprise he had split personalities and was well scary im not joking this man would go from really nice and friendly through to very very angry and scary in a matter of seconds the slightes think could change him to his alter ego.. Needless to say no one could handle him properly so i think he ended up in a special hospital

Sure. I think our personalities are like "software" running on the "hardware" of the brain. Most people run one instance of the "self" program, but some people end up creating more.
I only personally know one person with disassociative identity disorder (which is what they're calling MPD these days). He's a friend of a friend, but he seems like a decent guy. (I'd say "they," but I'm pretty sure there's only one "him" that interacts with people, and his other "personalities" are more behind-the-scenes.)
