I'm 64 (twice your age...LOL), and I've been called for jury duty many times. However, I've only served on a jury once. With my background as a legal secretary for over 20 years, I always felt they preferred someone with less knowledge of the law (especially the defense). I also used to type trial testimony for the court reporter, worked part time for the Sheriff's Department (would take a statement from someone who'd been arrested after regular hours), and had many friends in law enforcement. It was usually only the prosecution that wanted me on the jury. Believe me, being on a jury can either be very boring or it can be very interesting. I still feel it's my duty to serve, and I have to drive 25 miles to the Courthouse if I'm called. That's the hardest part for me now.

I have been asked and have served as a juror quite proudly. I was actually asked twice but I was my mom's caregiver the second time and excused.I am beginning to wonder if they did it permanently as as I haven't been asked since and it was awhile ago i had been asked

I was asked last year when I was 25. I went, didn't get picked, but am willing to go again. I might get a doctor's note this time, because although I went last time, my physical problems were almost more than I could deal with since I was there from 8am to 4:30pm.

Unfortunately I've been summoned for jury duty almost every single year since I've turned 18! What luck, huh! I hate it and it's a total waste of time because I never even get close to being picked anyways...not that I want to be...but still, why should I have to go if no one ever picks me! LOL You're so extremely lucky!
