Erik Chopin, who dropped 214 pounds to win NBC's ``The Biggest Loser,'' was prepared to undergo surgery to slim down before he was chosen for the weight-loss competition. Chopin, who weighed 407 pounds at the start of ``The Biggest Loser,'' said he had considered gastric band surgery to shrink his stomach. Instead, he went to a weight-loss ranch in California to film the reality show with 49 other contestants. On the finale earlier this week, he weighed in at 193 pounds to win the title and the $250,000 grand prize. What do you think about this show? Do you think it encourages people to be more fit, or sends a negative image about overweight people that makes them seem like people to be mocked? Thanks for your imput.

I think that it is a very big encouraging show. This last season has encourage me to finally do something about the weight and i don't have to have a risky surgery to get healthy. I just need to start moving my body more and change my lifestyle.

I think that's great. I know someone who just got gastric bypass and it's not easy! Yes, she's losing the weight, but was in a lot of pain for several weeks. And, she had to permanantly give up a lot of foods that others take for granted. But, she is, at least, off her meds. I think she probably could have lost the weight on her own, though, but she did have a lot of things that made it harder for her than the average person. But, she was able to lose weight before the surgery. I'd have to admit that it would have taken her years to completely lose the weight.

I like it. It's very inspirational, and shows people who might have otherwise give up on losing weight, that even they can do it. 193 pounds lost... holy crap. That makes even MY 80 pounds loss seem tiny in comparison!

I like the show. I love to see people make the changes in their lives to make them healthier. I feel thrilled when they lose even small amounts of weight. And, I like to see that their health and life have improved. The only concern that I have is that some people might not realize how hard those contestants work at it. They work out and harder and diet more strictly than the average person. I once lost a lot of weight and it does take work and major lifestyle changes. It took me about 8 months to lose the weight. And, sometimes it went up instead of down. I feel that some people might see what's on the show and try to do it. But, when they don't have the same results in the same amount of time, they would feel defeated.
