Don't bother to download/update to IE7. Its worse than IE6. If you want an alternative to firefox try Maxthon

I PREFER ONLY ONLY ONLY MOZILLA FIREFOX. I THINK IT IS A BEST INTERNET BROWSER IN THE WORLD NOW. IT HAVE MORE FEATURES THAN OTHER BROWSER. I ALWAY USE THIS BROWSER.

Eversince I used Firefox, I never got back to IE.
Firefox is safer to use as compared to IE in which you could get easily attacked by viruses. I also like the tabbing option in Firefox. I know IE 7 has that also. IE 7 really has some improvements. But I still won't use it. It's just that IE is such a resource hog. And I'm already so used to using Firefox. I even recommended it to my friends.
And as to your question if you could upgrade your current IE version to IE 7, the answer is yes. Just update it.

u can upgrade by downloading it from the microsoft website......

If u listen to me i wud recommend Opera 9.02.....

But I still won't use it unless I really have to, like when I can only view a webpage correctly through IE. IE 7 is such a resource hog.
