Are we becomming too politically correct?

I have noticed that it seems that in Canada and the United States we have gone overboard with political correctness. They want to change history to herstory because women had just as much to do with it as men...I agree that women played an equal if not greater role than men, but it is a bit extreme to change the name based on that. Changing the name of a Christmas tree to a holiday tree? No offence to anyone;but I do celebrate Christmas and am not Jewish and yet i do not get offended if someone wishes me a happy Hanukkah. I also take no offence if soneone wishes me a happy Chinese New Year.. Are we becomming too hypersensitive or am I just over analyzing things?
