Programing in Java is better than .NET I agree to the fact that programing in .NET is much more easier than Java since Microsoft provides one of the best IDE. But The advantage of programing in Java is that
1) We can make it run our application on many Operating System
2) Java is free and i think now it is GPL licensed (but not sure).
Both these features are in top priority for most programmers and many companies. So development in Java is much better than .Net.

Yes it is true that .NET applications are more easier to develop. But i dint understand what you meant by it is more compatible with many system. Isn't Java also compatible? Not only that you need to have license to develop and sell your application using Microsoft's Visual Studio. Thats not required in Java.
