Ibuprofen and also a nice warm bath with oils. I also find a hot water bottle on your back is quite effective.
If you have a partner why not get the to gently rub some massage oil into where it hurts, it's very relaxing.

Use a metallised heat-reflecting sheet between the mattress and the bottom sheet of your bed. (Look in your first-aid kit!) This is an easy and effective way to apply extra heat to the back, and works better than electric heating pads and hot water bottles. The heat of course is free, and it's amazing how much of it the body can generate. (Source: oldnaturalremedies.com)

Use moist heat on the lower back...on for 10 min...off for 10 min. Try that for an hour each time you can leave it on longer if it feels better but the muscle once is heated up will heal/or not be as sore. However you need to let it cool and reheat for it to allow blood flow and healing. If this does not work out, Its better for you to approach Ayurveda medicine.

A good brisk walk in the early morning everyday is the best excercise and cure for back ache.
